UNE Stands With Members at Local 50773

It hasn’t been an easy few months for the members of Local 50773. Since Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present opened at CMHR in Winnipeg (MB), our members have faced sustained pressure — from elected officials, organized advocacy campaigns, and public criticism. That’s not something any worker should have to face alone.

Local 50773’s membership voted overwhelmingly to stand behind their colleagues and the museum’s leadership, and to reject the pressure campaign aimed at their work. UNE stands behind that vote, fully.

“Our members are entrusted with difficult, important work, and their professional judgment deserves respect, not political interference from outside the institution,” said Alex Silas, PSAC National Executive Vice-President and UNE Trustee.

We’re inviting other locals, and everyone who believes in workers’ right to do their jobs without political interference, to join us in this support.
