The report quotes directly from the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/phoenix-damages-wage-increases-key-pa-deal-says\"><strong><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">PA PIC report<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">, and states that without the major common issues being resolved, such as Phoenix compensation and higher wage increases, the parties will find it difficult to reach a tentative agreement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">PSAC is disappointed that the PIC did not explicitly make specific recommendations on key Parks issues such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">parity with the core public service;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Phoenix pay protections and remedies;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">a competitive wage increase;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">fair compensation for Park Wardens;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">work life balance initiatives, such as improved maternity and parental leave;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">protections in the workplace; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">fairness for seasonal and term workers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">However, the PIC did acknowledge the struggle Parks Canada workers have had in achieving parity with the core public service since Parks was made a separate agency nearly 20 years ago. The report suggests parity with the core is an issue that will need to be addressed if the Parks Canada Agency hopes to reach an agreement with Parks members.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"1\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\">Next steps<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Although National President Chris Aylward\u00a0<\/span><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/parks-canada-workers-join-over-100000-psac-members\"><strong>authorized strike votes<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/span><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for the Parks bargaining unit,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/covid-19-psac-strike-votes-and-union-events\"><strong><span xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">all strike votes are currently suspended until March 30<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a><span xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"auto\">. At that time the union will re-evaluate whether to continue the suspension or resume the strike votes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Despite the suspension of votes, PSAC will continue to bargain for all units currently in negotiations.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">We will be updating our national and regional websites, social media, as well as sending information by email as the situation develops.
