The union\u2019s top priority is to obtain a fair wage settlement, and improvements in areas such as work-life balance, workload, leave provisions, and the use of temporary workers.<\/p>\n<p>After many months of <a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/phoenix-looms-liberals-propose-2-year-wage-freeze\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">frustrating talks<\/a> with the government, PSAC members are still waiting for a proper response to the union\u2019s bargaining proposals. In December, the government <a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/bargaining-impasse-liberals-wage-freeze\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insulted federal public service workers<\/a> by coming to the table with a proposal for a two-year wage freeze.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will mobilize members to pressure Prime Minister Trudeau to live up to his promise of a new relationship with public service workers \u2013 one of respect,\u201d said PSAC National President, Chris Aylward. \u201cHis Government is betraying our members and Canadians who depend on high quality public service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew Treasury Board President, Jane Philpott must get a new mandate from the Prime Minister \u2013 one that will allow a fair deal. Our members have been waiting three years to get paid correctly under Phoenix \u2013 they shouldn\u2019t also have to wait for the decent working conditions they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next week\u2019s sessions will cover four bargaining units under Treasury Board: <a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/pa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Program &amp; Administrative Services (PA)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/tc\">Technical Services (TC)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/sv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Operations Services (SV)<\/a>, and<a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/eb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Education &amp; Library Science (EB)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Source: PSAC&#8217;s website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PSAC will be resuming face-to-face bargaining sessions from February 12 to14 on behalf of the 90,000 federal public service workers covered by Treasury Board bargaining.
