The Union of National Employees is proud to welcome members from the newly created Local 00420 at Rouge National Urban Park in the Greater Toronto Area (Scarborough). The park is Canada\u2019s first urban national park, officially created in May 2015.<\/p>\n

Mary Anne Walker, regional vice-president for the Ontario region, recently chaired the local\u2019s first annual general meeting in December.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a unique attraction,\u201d commented Walker. \u201cVisitors don\u2019t have to travel to the park; the park experience has been brought to the city. In addition to common Parks Canada practices such as ecosystem restoration and preservation, there are guided walks, species and ecosystem preservation, educational and special events \u2013 all nestled within the city.\u201d<\/p>\n
