{"id":5132,"date":"2015-09-28T12:19:38","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T17:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.une-sen.org\/press\/?p=5132"},"modified":"2015-09-28T12:25:40","modified_gmt":"2015-09-28T17:25:40","slug":"psac-launches-second-phase-of-vote-to-stop-the-cuts-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unesen.ca\/press\/?p=5132","title":{"rendered":"PSAC launches second phase of Vote to Stop the Cuts campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5137\" src=\"http:\/\/www.une-sen.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/VTSTCP2.png\" alt=\"VTSTCP2\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unesen.ca\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/VTSTCP2.png 600w, https:\/\/www.unesen.ca\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/VTSTCP2-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Public Service Alliance of Canada is today launching the second phase of its <a href=\"http:\/\/votetostopthecuts.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vote to Stop the Cuts<\/a> campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign provides key information about the Harper Conservatives\u2019 cuts to public services and encourages Canadians to take this into account when voting on October 19<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/votetostopthecuts.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vote to Stop the Cuts<\/a> phase two will include <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/lUhVcflB1bM\" target=\"_blank\">a new video<\/a> encouraging Canadians to vote on October 19, transit and newspaper ads as well as web and social media content.<\/p>\n<p>Since coming into power, the Harper Conservatives have cut more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.policyalternatives.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/publications\/National%20Office\/2014\/11\/At_What_Cost.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">$14.5 billion a year<\/a> from public services.<\/p>\n<p>Phase 1 of the Vote to Stop the Cuts campaign garnered widespread\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/psacunion.ca\/psacs-vote-stop-cuts-campaign-generates-mass-media\" target=\"_blank\">media attention<\/a> as well as engagement on social media. The first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/9_pSTbrFb5E\" target=\"_blank\">campaign video<\/a> was viewed over 4.1 million times across social media platforms, the campaign content was liked, shared or commented on 226,000 times on Facebook and the <a href=\"http:\/\/votetostopthecuts.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">campaign website<\/a> received 436,000 hits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe our message is resonating with Canadians as we provide facts about the many essential public services that have been threatened by the reckless cuts made by the Harper Conservative government, without regard for the safety and welfare of millions of Canadians,\u201d said Robyn Benson, National President of PSAC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur members are on the front lines and see how frustrated Canadians are \u2013 waiting weeks to receive Employment Insurance cheques, or finding they can\u2019t qualify.
