This week, some federal government departments began distributing memos to employees urging them to avoid using social media during the election. The Union of National Employees believes this is an attempt to silence Canadian citizens\u2019 freedom of expression.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople need to be aware of the potential consequences when sharing their views on social media. But the law does not allow the employer to prohibit all employees from expressing their opinions when they are not at work,\u201d said UNE president Doug Marshall.<\/p>\n
