The Canadian Police and Peace Officers\u2019 Annual Memorial Service pays tribute to the men and women of law enforcement who are killed in the line of duty.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also an opportunity to thank to those who work so hard to keep us safe.<\/p>\n<p>Among these inspirational men and women are park wardens, who are responsible for law enforcement in our national parks. They also happen to be members of the Union of National Employees.<\/p>\n<p>This year, nine wardens were chosen to represent their comrades in Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really important to recognize the important work of our law enforcement community,\u201d said National Executive Vice-President Eddie Kennedy.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Park wardens, Kennedy says, work hard every day to keep our national parks and historic sites safe for Canadian families. \u201cSo next time you visit a national park, make sure to thank a warden for their important public service,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The wardens who took part in yesterday\u2019s celebration were Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Deland, Local 10515; Dominique Audet, Local 60029; Jim Mamalis, Local 30115, Ben Alderman, Local 29266; Mike Ellsworth, Local 00392; Nicolas Cotter, Local 10269; Gregory Daigle, Local 60284; Sara Jaward, Local 00238; and Craig Burden Local 90265.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/element_national_component\/sets\/72157631668429887\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1256\" title=\"honouring_pb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.une-sen.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/honouring_pb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unesen.ca\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/honouring_pb.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.unesen.ca\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/honouring_pb-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to check out our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/element_national_component\/sets\/72157631668429887\/\">Flickr page<\/a> for more great photos from yesterday\u2019s memorial service!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, hundreds gathered on Parliament Hill in Ottawa to honour police and peace officers across Canada.
